Chua Kee Lock
Group President and Chief Executive Officer

Mr Chua Kee Lock is Group President & CEO of Vertex Venture Holdings Ltd and President & CEO of Vertex Venture Management Pte. Ltd., providing invaluable insights and guidance to the Group’s investment strategy. His wealth of experience ranges from investment-related roles to various management functions. Currently, Kee Lock sits on the board of the following listed companies: Logitech International S.A., Yongmao and SHC Capital. Kee Lock also serves on the board of numerous portfolio companies including IGG Inc, Anhui Bayi Chemical Co Ltd and Shandong Huaan New Materials Co Ltd.

Prior to his current appointment, Kee Lock served as the President and Executive Director of Singapore-listed Biosensors, a developer and manufacturer of medical devices used in interventional cardiology and critical care procedures. Previously from 2003-2006, Kee Lock held the position of Managing Director at a U.S.-headquartered venture capital firm, Walden International, and was responsible for all its investment activities in the South Asia market.

Between 1987 to 1997 and 2001 to 2003, he served in various roles within the NatSteel Group, including as Deputy President of NatSteel Ltd. From 1991 to 1993, he served as a General Manager and Chief Operating Officer of Beaver Computer Corporation.

His other positions include: Vice President of Transpac Capital, a Venture Capital firm, CEO of Intraco Ltd, Independent Director of Pacific Internet Ltd., Independent Director of Digiland International Ltd., Non-Executive Director of Lee Metal Group Ltd., Director of Teledata Singapore Ltd., Director of Gaixa Singapore Pte Ltd., Director of CWT Distribution Ltd., Director of Digital Typhoon Pte Ltd., Director of Internet Technology Group Ltd., Director of Easteel Construction Services Pte Ltd., and Director of Siam Industrial Wire Co Ltd.. He also co-founded MediaRing.com Ltd, a voice-over-internet services which listed in Singapore in 1999, and served as its President and Executive Director. In addition to his professional responsibilities, he is actively involved with charitable organizations, including Beyond Social Services and Mainly I Love Kids (MILK).

Kee Lock graduated from the University of Wisconsin at Madison with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and from Stanford University with a Masters of Science in Engineering under distinguished scholarship from NatSteel.

Chua Joo Hock
Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer

Mr Chua Joo Hock is Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer of Vertex Venture Management Pte. Ltd. in Singapore, heading the global investment activities in India, Korea and Taiwan.

Joo Hock joined the former Singapore Technologies Group in 1987. He was actively involved in the early phase of Singapore Technologies' venture capital investment activities and the start-up of Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing Ltd in Singapore. In 1989, he was seconded to Vertex Management Inc to strengthen Vertex Group's investment efforts in the US. He returned to Singapore in 1992 where he was involved in the fund raising for Vertex Asia Ltd and also led Vertex Group's Asian investment activities. In particular, he was instrumental in leading Vertex Group's investments in Taiwan and Singapore. Joo Hock returned to Vertex Management Inc in late 1998 until his relocation to Singapore in August 2004.

Prior to joining the former Singapore Technologies Group, Joo Hock was with the NatSteel Group of Companies where he was involved directly in venture capital investments and corporate project development activities. He also worked in the Singapore Economic Development Board and the Singapore subsidiary of General Electric's semiconductor division immediately after graduation from the University of Singapore in 1979.

Joo Hock currently represents Vertex Group on the board of muvee Technologies Pte Ltd, eGInnovations Pte Ltd, China Digital Video Limited, Anhui Bayi Chemical Co Ltd and Shandong Huaan New Materials Co Ltd.

Joo Hock holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) from the former University of Singapore and a Master of Business Administration from the National University of Singapore.

Tay Choon Chong
Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer

Mr Tay Choon Chong is Managing Director & Chief Investment Officer. Prior to joining Vertex Group, Choon Chong was the Senior Vice President of Government Investment Corporation of Singapore (GIC) based in Beijing, China from 2007 to 2009.

Prior to that, Choon Chong was with Singapore Technologies Engineering, a listed engineering company in Singapore. He was the Senior Vice President of its aerospace division and responsible for its component total aviation support business which has operations in Scandinavia and Singapore. From 2000 to 2005, Choon Chong was with Fortune Venture Investment Group, a Pan-Asia venture capital firm. He was the President of Fortune Singapore and two of its technology funds based in Singapore. Choon Chong started his career in 1995 as an engineer designing avionics system for fighter jets.

Choon Chong holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) degree in Electrical Engineering from Imperial College, London, and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, both under the Singapore Technologies Scholarship.
